Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed’s election video under investigation

In the video, he says he voted for Keisha Lance Bottoms.

The Georgia Secretary of State's Office is investigating a Facebook video in which Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed encourages people to vote and says he voted Tuesday for Keisha Lance Bottoms for mayor.

Channel 2 Action News reported Wednesday that state law prohibits solicitation of votes within 150 feet of a polling place. In the video posted to his Facebook page, Reed says he's at Fickett Elementary School in southwest Atlanta.

The Secretary of State’s Office opened an investigation after receiving a complaint about Reed’s statements, spokeswoman Candice Broce told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The State Election Board will decide the case after the investigation is completed, she said.

A spokeswoman for Reed told Channel 2 the story is “nonsense” and an attempt to prop up Mary Norwood, who faces Bottoms in a Dec. 5 runoff.
