Fulton County’s Aldredge Health Center will close permanently on Friday.

The county is moving its public health services to a new building, at 10 Park Place SE in Atlanta. That building will open May 8, after the move is complete.

The Aldredge Health Center was more than 50 years old, and was plagued with problems. It was purchased by Grady Health Systems, giving the hospital more room to expand.

The county's vital records office, which used to be at Aldredge, has moved to the Fulton County Government Center at 141 Pryor St. in Atlanta.

Aldredge closes Friday at 5:30 p.m. Fulton County Public Health at 10 Park Place opens at 8:30 a.m. May 8.
