Metro Atlanta school districts announce Tuesday plans after winter storm

Paulding County School District will remain closed Tuesday after a winter storm caused icy roads and still-unresolved water outages.

The school district is one of about a half dozen that closed Monday in the aftermath of a winter storm; other area districts reported they will resume classes Tuesday.

Paulding announced the news on social media shortly before 7 p.m. Monday. The district cited road conditions in some parts of the county, no water in two schools with no estimate for when service will be restored, and a boil water advisory at four schools.

Though schools are closed, the district’s annual employees and custodians are asked to report to work at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Marietta City Schools, Cherokee County School District, Cobb County School District, Fulton County Schools, Douglas County School System and Carroll County School System announced they will be open Tuesday on a normal schedule.

Many metro Atlanta districts held classes on Friday, only to dismiss students early.
