Atlanta school board hopefuls will make their pitches for voter support at an Oct. 18 candidate forum organized by a North Atlanta parent group.
The 7 p.m. Oct. 18 forum will take place at the Willis A. Sutton Middle School main campus, 2875 Northside Drive.
The event is hosted by North Atlanta Parents for Public Schools.
The November election includes 30 candidates running for all nine school board seats. Winners will guide the roughly 50,000-student Atlanta Public Schools for the next four years.
Two of the six incumbents -- Nancy Meister in north Atlanta District 4 and at-large District 9 representative Jason Esteves -- are unopposed.
Challengers are trying to oust incumbents running for re-election in four contested races. Three of seats feature wide-open races because the incumbents who currently hold the offices are seeing other elected offices.
Candidates for all offices have been invited to participate in the forum.
An August school board candidate forum drew two dozen candidates, who discussed issues ranging from equity to district finances, teacher pay, and charter schools.
