Gwinnett County school administrators say some schools need some handiwork and want to spend about $7.7 million on the improvements.

The officials want to reroof and improve the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in about 20 schools. School board members are scheduled to vote on the proposed work at a meeting Thursday evening.

Gwinnett officials wrote in memos that the companies recommended to do the work were the lowest bidders for each project.
