Atlanta high schools to offer new IB program

Two Atlanta high schools will now offer programs that combine rigorous academics with career and technology education.

Jackson High School and North Atlanta High School will add the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme to their existing International Baccalaureate, or IB, programs.

The new program is for students who want to focus on “career-related” learning in their junior and senior years. Students can focus on areas including audio visual technology and film, web and digital design, and computer programming.

“This allows us to serve students through the IB Programme in the 11th and 12th grade that want the academic rigor in preparation for college and focus on an established career pathway. Additionally, it will make our programme more diverse and interesting to students that are hesitant to enter the IB Diploma Progamme,” North Atlanta High School Principal Curtis Douglass said in a written statement.

Ten other Georgia high schools offer the program.
