A woman with Alzheimer’s disease was found after she walked away from an assisted living facility in Gwinnett County, according to Norcross police.

Carmela Bravo Cutler, 81, had been the subject of a Mattie’s Call after someone reported she had not been seen since 8 p.m. Monday.

Authorities said she walked away from the Shekinah Home in the 500 block of Lawrenceville Street.

Officers found her when they got a phone tip about 6:35 p.m. Tuesday that she was at a nearby hotel, Norcross police Sgt. Eric Butynski said.

Police found her at the hotel with no injuries.

“She did not appear lost or confused,” Butynski said.

She just did not like the assisted living facility and decided to leave, police said.

Cutler was returned to the facility, but allowed to go back to the hotel because she is not required to stay at the assisted living facility, Butynski said.

“We want (to) thank the public and media outlets for their assistance,” Norcross police said in a Twitter post.
