Theft is a crime and not a redeeming human trait. But the robbery that went down in a Gwinnett County antiques store seems particularly outlandish.
“A piece of Christianity was stolen," Tom McDonald, owner of Five Forks Antique Shop in Lilburn, told Channel 2 Action News.
He was referring to a group of women who were captured on surveillance video stealing a 14-karat gold rosary, the station reported.
One of the women stole the rosary from a display case, and one of the other women distracted McDonald by asking to try something on.
Once he realized the rosary, worth $1,000 or more, was missing, McDonald chased after the women and got a photo of the car they left in.
They drove off in a gold Honda Odyssey with a Texas plate of HZW6302.
It’s not the first time McDonald’s store has been targeted. Several months ago, an even larger group of women tried to steal the same jewelry.
“There’s usually at least two people involved,” he said. “One’s the lookout and the other is actually taking the goods.
“It’s not pleasant,” he said, “because it’s part of your hard work and your income.”
