A flash bang was followed by heavily armored SWAT team members moving in Wednesday to arrest a man at a Kennesaw home.

Kristen Davis told Channel 2 Action News she was concerned about the charges her neighbor was facing.

“The neighborhood needs to know what’s going on,” Davis told the news station. “It’s not fair that nobody knows what happened; they need to know why he was arrested.”

Blake Sergel was wanted on aggravated assault and battery charges related to the Jan. 1 robbery and shooting of a homeless man near the Canton Road connector off I-75 in Cobb County.

Marietta police spokeswoman Brittany Wallace said Sergel’s accused partner in the crime, Cody Gaines, was arrested earlier.

The two 18-year-olds allegedly robbed Roberto Rodriguez for cigarettes while he was sleeping under a bridge. Sergel allegedly used a .357 magnum to demand cash.

“When they didn't receive what they wanted, they shot the man in the torso,” Wallace told Channel 2.

Rodriguez was left paralyzed from the waist down after a bullet hit his spine, according to an arrest warrant.

Police used SWAT forces to make the arrest because they didn’t know if Sergel would be armed.
