Shantell Washington was shot in the face at the WestMar Student Lofts. Police are searching for suspect Chaz Christian.

A suspected gunman told officers to call 911 after Atlanta police say he shot a woman in the face and left the scene.

Chaz Christian, 22, allegedly shot Shantell Washington, who was visiting a friend who lives at the WestMar Student Lofts in Midtown.

Washington, 18, was lying on the kitchen floor next to blood and vomit when police arrived late Tuesday night, according to a report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She had been shot in the face and neck.

A friend applied pressure to Washington’s wounds until police arrived. Washington was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police recovered a Smith and Wesson handgun at the scene.

Christian left the shooting scene, but not before telling officers at the apartment complex to call 911 “because someone was shot in apartment number 320,” police said.

A guest log obtained by Atlanta police indicates Christian was also let into the apartment complex, but the police report does not indicate whose guest he was.

Christian was last seen wearing a black and blue Finish Line shirt with dark-colored pants. No description of him has been released.
