A teen connected to a Gwinnett man’s murder may be getting out of jail soon, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Alex Powell, 17, faces an assault with intent to commit a crime charge after accepting a plea deal for his involvement in 21-year-old Akeem Turner’s murder, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.
A judge gave Powell a $500,000 bond “because this is a big case,” Channel 2 reported. Powell was also placed on house arrest and is only allowed to leave the home for work or church.
On Oct. 14, Turner was in his car with Powell, when police say Powell pulled Turner’s keys out of the ignition and exited the car. At the same time, a 16-year-old pulled a gun on Turner and tried to rob him of cash and marijuana, police said.
Powell led police to the 16-year-old and agreed to a plea deal to avoid a murder charge.
The alleged teenage triggerman is in jail and faces murder charges. A third suspect is still at large, according to Channel 2.
