A 34-year-old man was found shot to death Tuesday in northeast Georgia.

A man was taken into custody and charged with murder in northeast Georgia late Tuesday about an hour after officials found a man shot to death, the sheriff said.

Xavier Tyray Neal was caught in a wooded area near Pace Drive in Nicholson, Sheriff Janis Mangum said Wednesday in a news release.

About 10:20 p.m., several 911 callers said someone was shot, and when deputies arrived they found the body of Scottie Dale Pressley, 34, Mangum said. He had been shot multiple times.

Neal and Pressley knew each other, Mangum said, but a motive is unknown at this time.

The GBI also responded, and the investigation is ongoing.

Jackson County is about 60 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 706-367-8718.
