A Snapchat video of a deadly shooting outside a Hall County gas station helped investigators arrest a suspect, sheriff’s officials said.

Talon Lowery, 19, of Sautee, is charged in connection with the death of 18-year-old Bryan Ramirez of Gainesville, Deputy Stephen Wilbanks said in a news release.

The incident happened just before 10 p.m. Thursday outside a Texaco station in the 4100 block of Cleveland Highway, Wilbanks said. Ramirez, an employee, was taking a break with a friend when a Ford F-150 drove through the parking lot.

The truck’s occupant fired one shot from a rifle, hitting Ramirez in the back, according to the release. Emergency crews took him to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Soon, White County sheriff’s investigators informed Hall County officials they had been made aware of a Snapchat video of the shooting, Wilbanks said. Also, White County officials said they were familiar with the alleged shooter.

White County investigators went to Lowery’s residence and detained him until Hall County deputies arrived. Investigators found the alleged weapon in the truck, which was also at Lowery’s home, Wilbanks said.

Lowery was booked into the Hall County jail.

Authorities don’t know if he had anyone else in the truck at the time of the shooting. And they don’t know if Lowery knew Ramirez.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 770-531-6879.
