A man was shot inside a car in southwest Atlanta on Saturday, and police hope new surveillance footage will help them locate the person wanted in connection with the incident.

Officers responded to the 1700 block of Campbellton Road about 1:30 p.m. Saturday and learned two men were inside the vehicle when a struggle began, Atlanta police Officer Stephanie Brown said.

“At some point during the struggle,” she said, “the suspect shot the victim several times.”

After the 39-year-old victim got out of the car and ran from the vehicle, the accused shooter drove away from the scene, police said.

The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in serious condition. His current status is unknown, and his name has not been released.

“At this time,” Brown said, “investigators are attempting to identify the suspect and determine what occurred. Investigators have located the involved vehicle and are processing it for evidence.”

Anyone with information about the shooting or the man seen in the newly released surveillance footage is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 or crimestoppersatlanta.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000.
