Services set Thursday for mother, daughter killed in head-on crash

A woman and her 12-year-old daughter will be buried Thursday, four days after they both died in a head-on collision.

Billie Shockley, 30, was driving Sunday afternoon in Jackson County when her Kia Optima crossed the center line on Holly Springs Road and struck a Dodge Ram, the Georgia State Patrol confirmed.

Shockley later died at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, the Gainesville Times reported. Alexis Shockley, who attended Banks County Middle School, died at the scene.

A spokesman for the GSP said Wednesday the investigation is still open.

Services for the mother and daughter will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville. Interment will follow at Bethany Christian Church.

The driver of the pickup truck, Octavio Rodriguez, 49, of Pendergrass, and two passengers were taken to the hospital, the Times reported. Rodriguez was in satisfactory condition, the paper reported.
