A 48-year-old Woodstock man was arrested Thursday night in connection with nine recent business burglaries in the Highway 92 corridor in Cherokee County, a spokeswoman said.

Mark Highsmith is charged with nine counts of burglary, three counts of criminal damage and six counts of criminal trespass, Woodstock police spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said.

Police said the same man robbed five of the businesses early Sunday and four early Monday, according to a Facebook post. He parked behind the buildings and used a hammer to enter through a front glass door, police said, taking an undisclosed amount of cash from some of the businesses.

Police did not release names of the affected businesses in order to help their investigation.

Suwanee police aided in the investigation, Duncan said.

Highsmith is in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center on $156,999 bond.
