A man has two black eyes from a beating he suffered when two teenagers attacked him Saturday night in Sandy Springs while he was walking home, Channel 2 Action News reported.

But it could’ve been worse, since a good Samaritan stepped in to help Ryan Sunderland during the incident on Roswell Road, according to the news station.

“I evidently got quite a bit of bruising on the face,” he said.

“I was tackled from behind,” he said. “They went ahead and started punching me in the face ... yelling at me, ‘What you got, what you got?’”

Along came Brian Eaglen, who was driving home when he saw the attack.

“I saw a man on the sidewalk getting kicked, punched by two young males,” Eaglen said. “I slammed on my brakes, pulled a U-turn on Roswell Road, and faced my car on them and the victim.”

Eaglen said he blew his horn, turned on his high-beam lights and began yelling.

“One of (the attackers) stopped the other, and they started to walk away,” Eaglen said.

Both men called police, who searched the area and found the teens, according to Channel 2. They are charged with battery and attempted robbery. Their names weren’t released because they are juveniles.

Sunderland thanked police for their response, and he especially appreciated Eaglen’s help.

“It's not every day,” he said, “that you see someone stop and help in a violent situation like that.”
