Police see suspect run while helping shooting victim

Highlights

A 20-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday in Clayton County.

The suspect was seen running away.

Detectives are investigating.

Clayton County police are searching for a suspect seen running after a fatal shooting Saturday afternoon.

Officers heard gunshots about 1:30 p.m. while patrolling near 5751 Riverdale Road, Clayton County police spokeswoman Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said.

The area is near the Highland Woods Apartments and as officers checked the complex, they said they found Fanoris Jermaine Jackson Jr. lying on the pavement.

The 20-year-old had been shot more than once and was in critical condition, Marbury said.

Jackson was rushed to a nearby hospital but died as a result of his injuries.

The officers saw a man wearing all black running from the scene, but were unable to catch him, Marbury said.

Detectives are working to determine what led to the shooting.

Anyone with information regarding the details of this incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS(8477).
