Brian Huberty, who is paralyzed, watched as a burglar made off with his belongings.

All Brian Huberty could do was sit and watch from his bed as a burglar stole his belongings.

Huberty, who is paralyzed from the waist down, said the suspect smashed his window with a brick and crawled inside his DeKalb County home, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“He came to my bedroom door, opened it up, and said: ‘DeKalb police, I saw somebody breaking into your window,’” Huberty told Channel 2. The suspect was wearing a track suit and had no identification on him.

The suspect identified himself as “community patrol” after Huberty confronted the man about his outfit.

Huberty said the man then began rummaging through his things, including a basket on his wheelchair, Channel 2 reported. The man made off with the items in the basket and some electronics.

Huberty said he thought about taking a photo or video of the man, but he was afraid the suspect would harm him.

“It was scary,” he said. “He could have done violence to me had he chosen to, and I couldn’t have done anything about it.”
