An elementary school teacher in northeast Georgia was charged with child molestation Tuesday, the GBI said.

Brandon David Cannon of Hart County was arrested one day after someone complained to the sheriff’s office, GBI agent Jesse Maddox said in a statement.

The sheriff’s office asked the GBI to help with the case.

Cannon, 28, was a teacher at South Hart Elementary School in Hartwell, the GBI said.

“The investigation suggests the incident leading to the arrest did not occur on school property and did not occur at a school-sponsored event,” Maddox said.

Cannon was booked into the Hart County jail without incident.

Hart County is about 100 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 706-552-2309.
