More than seven months after a woman was killed and left naked in an Atlanta park, investigators are hoping new DNA evidence may lead them to her killer.

Bridget Shiel, 19, was found in a grassy area near a basketball court at Oakland City Park early May 31, police said.

She had multiple gunshot wounds on her back, buttocks and legs.

"I don't think a week has gone by since May 31st of 2016 that I haven't thought about it," Atlanta police Maj. Adam Lee told Channel 2 Action News.

Investigators and GBI work the scene where 19-year-old Bridget Shiel’s car was found behind Crowe’s Plaza, Wed., June 1, 2016, in Stone Mountain. Shiel was shot to death and left naked in Oakland City Park near downtown Atlanta on Tuesday. BRANDEN CAMP / SPECIAL

Police don’t plan to release how investigators came across the new evidence or what it is, Atlanta police Sgt. Warren Pickard said.

“We have to protect the integrity of the investigation and [were] very limited and particular on the information we provided to media,” Pickard said.
