A mother accused of attacking a 13-year-old at a bus stop said her son was being bullied by the student.

Through her attorney, Taza Danielle Harris, 44, told Channel 2 Action News she plans to turn herself in to Atlanta Public Schools police on charges of aggravated assault and cruelty to children.

Harris denied using a weapon in the Nov. 3 incident that left a student bleeding from his head, right hand and ear, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. Harris’ 24-year-old daughter, Chelsea Harris, is also accused in the beating.

The alleged victim, who has not been identified, told Channel 2 the women used a knife and a razor blade to cut him at a bus stop on Mt. Gilead Road near Meadowlane Drive. The students were headed to Bunche Middle School.

The victim and Taza Harris’ 11-year-old were in an argument before the attack, according to the police report. They said Taza and Chelsea Harris began arguing with the victim.

“They kept getting in his face,” Atlanta Public Schools police Officer J. Kozma wrote in the report, which was obtained by The AJC.

“The students (at the bus stop said) the older sister swung on the (victim) but missed as he was trying to get on the bus.”

The victim then turned around and threw his bookbag at Chelsea Harris and the two adults began to attack him, according to the police report. Police said one of the women stabbed the victim with a knife.

By the time police arrived, the boy was bleeding from the top of his head and right hand and had a cut on his right ear. He was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding, where he received stitches.

Harris’ attorney denied the charges and said Taza Harris’ son was being bullied by the stabbing victim, Channel 2 reported.
