A man was sentenced to life plus 15 years in state prison for shooting to death the son of the woman with whom he was having an extramarital affair, Fulton County’s top prosecutor said.

Calvin Sneed, 52, was convicted last month of malice murder, felony murder and other charges for the Feb. 13 shooting death of Gregory Jones Jr., District Attorney Paul Howard Jr. said in a news release.

Atlanta police say Sneed shot Jones, 30, in front of his mother outside a home in northwest Atlanta.

Jones confronted Sneed about the way he treated his mother, Antoinette Williams, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Williams told Channel 2 that Sneed then “reached in his pocket, pulled the revolver out and repeatedly stood over my son and shot him.”

Police say Sneed drove from the scene. He was arrested by College Park police a week later after a friend turned him in.

Sneed also was convicted of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Howard said.
