Man found guilty in hookah lounge murder case

The victim's family has waited 4 1/2 years for justice

A man was found guilty of murder Friday in the deadly shooting of another man over a $5 cover charge, Channel 2 Action News reported.

David Jacobs, a former bouncer at Cloud 6 Hookah Lounge near Lithonia, was found guilty in the 2013 death of Keith Butler, Channel 2 reported.

A mistrial was declared in the case in March after a juror allegedly used a cellphone during deliberations, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

“They finally found him guilty of killing my child, thank you God,” Gail Butler, the victim’s mother, said outside the DeKalb County courthouse after the verdict was announced. “I'm so happy.”

Police said Jacobs fled to New Jersey shortly after Butler was killed. He was arrested there and extradited to Georgia.
