A shooting reported at a high school in Reno, Nevada, prompted a lock down on campus late Wednesday morning and left one person injured, according to multiple reports.
Hug High School police confirmed that the shooting involved an officer, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported.
Reno police said around 11:40 a.m. local time that they were responding to reports of shots fired at the school. Authorities secured the scene by 12 p.m., although the campus remained on lock down.
A spokeswoman for the Washoe County School District told the Gazette-Journal that the school was under "code red lock down" as officials worked to notify parents of the ongoing situation.
"Officers appeared to have detained a group of teens behind the school shortly after the incident," the Gazette-Journal reported. "It was unclear why they had the youths sitting on a curb behind the school."
Police did not immediately identify the person injured. Citing a report from the scene, KRNV said the injured person was a student.
No additional information on the shooting or possible injuries was immediately available.
