Hit-and-run crash kills Decatur man leaving bar

Authorities are searching for leads after a Decatur man was hit and killed outside a bar Friday morning.

Anthony Lingoes had just left the Trackside Tavern about 3 a.m. when he was killed, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Police told Channel 2 Lingoes was walking near South Candler Street when he crossed a street without crosswalks and was hit by a car.

The driver kept going.

Police believe a 2008 to 2014 Cadillac CTS hit Anthony Lingoes.

“Somewhere out there is a person who did this, somewhere out there is a dented car,” Lingoes’ brother Andrew told Channel 2.

Andrew Lingoes said his family was shocked by Anthony’s death, which came at a time when he was “trying to better himself.”

“It is a complete shock to our family,” he said. “We are having a really hard time getting over it."

Torpy at Large: If lobbyists win, Hidden Predator Act will stay hidden

A bill in the state House called the Hidden Predator Act would expand the age (to 38) that past victims of child sexual assault could sue for damages. Moreso, it would hold accountable organizations, businesses and even churches that...
