The former cult leader accused of killing a toddler nearly 30 years ago was released from the Cobb County jail early Friday. Anna Elizabeth Young was taken back to north Florida, where a grand jury indicted her for premeditated murder.

Young, 75, had been held at the Cobb jail since Nov. 30, when she was arrested at her home in Marietta. Young, who has lived in Cobb County for more than 15 years, previously ran the House of Prayer for All People in Florida's Alachua County. Investigators believe Young physically tortured residents of the compound, leading to the 1989 death of boy known as Moses.

In an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Young's daughter said she witnessed her mother's abusive treatment of children and adults. Joy Fluker believes her mother is mentally ill and needs treatment.

A former resident of Young’s farm said he was nearly beaten to death as a child. John Neal’s younger sister, who died before her third birthday, was also abused by Young, he said.
