Dunwoody police are asking the public for help this Thanksgiving to find a woman who was reported missing after she didn’t show up at her daughter’s house in Peachtree Corners.
Velma Harrison, 79, left her Dunwoody home Wednesday to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with her daughter and grandson.
Harrison never arrived. Instead of celebrating together, daughter Tracie Monteagudo is hoping for her safe return while Harrison’s grandson passes out flyers along well-traveled roads. Police originally described the case as an “overdue motorist” and are now saying they are certain she has become disoriented and got on the wrong road.
"Her family is very concerned as are we," said Lt. Fidel Espinoza, in a video posted to the police department's Facebook page.
He said Harrison was seen at a Pilot gas station in LaGrange, Ga. about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. She purchased about $20 of gas. Monteagudo said she received reports of her mother’s credit card being used around 5:30 a.m. Thursday at a Chamblee gas station. Just after 2 p.m., police said she purchased about $30 in fuel at a gas station in Buckhead.
Harrison is driving a white 2002 four-door Acura 3.2TL with the Georgia license plate PCX1377. Anyone who sees her should call 911.
