Controlled medications were stolen early Wednesday from a Walgreens in Buckhead.

One person has been detained in connection with an overnight theft of controlled medications from a Buckhead Walgreens, Atlanta police said.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers found the front and pharmacy doors pried open at the store in the 2800 block of Peachtree Road, Sgt. Warren Pickard said in a release.

An unknown amount of oxycodone, morphine and methamphetamine had been taken. Store security accessed the video remotely and tracked a device taken in the burglary, Pickard said.

The device was tracked to a site near a Motel 6 on Delk Road in Cobb County, Pickard said. Two people matching the descriptions of the people in the Walgreens video checked into that motel earlier. One of the people left the motel and has been detained.

After viewing video from the motel and from Walgreens, Atlanta police are attempting to get a search warrant from Cobb County, police said.

Authorities are at the hotel waiting for the warrant to search the hotel.
