2 dead after triple shooting in Canton

Police are still searching for the shooter.

Canton police are trying to figure out the motive and identify the suspects in a triple shooting that left two people dead and another person injured.

About 11:20 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to Crisler Street after receiving a report of multiple gunshots in the area, police Officer Pacer Cordry said in a statement.

When officers got to the scene, they found one person dead in a grassy area near Crisler Street and another at a house off Jefferson Circle with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. That person was taken to a local hospital.

The third shooting victim was found in a vehicle near the area and died en route to a local hospital, Cordry said.

Police identified the two people killed as William Kendrick Randall, 23, of Canton, and Tony Samples, 26, of Ball Ground.

“Detectives are actively in the field working leads in this case and continuing to conduct additional interviews in an effort to identify suspects and learn the motive behind this violent crime,” Cordry said.

Canton police Chief Mark Mitchell said his detectives have a few leads, but the shooting was not random and multiple people are believed to have been involved.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 770-720-4883.
