A Thomaston man drove to Cobb County after he illegally solicited sex online from a Marietta police officer posing as a 14-year-old girl, according to arrest warrants.

Okeefe Owens, 40, is out of the Cobb jail on charges of solicitation of a minor and a violation of a limited driving permit, according to jail records.

Police said Owens posted a “suspicious ad” on July 9 with the hopes of luring a teenager for intercourse, according to arrest warrants. Owens exchanged messages and pictures with a Marietta cop posing as the teen.

The two arranged to meet July 20 at the Dave and Buster’s in Marietta, according to the warrant. Police arrested Owens at the scene after he confessed in a videotaped interview that he was there to meet the teen.

Police also discovered Owens had violated his limited driving license permit, which restricted his travel to work or “another legitimate reason listed on the permit.”

He was booked in the jail and released July 22.
