Clayton County officials had been looking for Noah Leroy Gooden for the past five months.

Gooden, 30, of Jonesboro, had been on the run since Dec. 20 before he was arrested Wednesday in Louisiana.

Police say Gooden, a freelance painter, choked his pregnant girlfriend, left her unconscious and cursed her and their unborn child. At one point during the assault, police said he aimed a gun at her.

Calcasieu Parish (La.) Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said Gooden was located and arrested on warrants out of Georgia and had not committed any crimes while in Louisiana.

Gooden faces aggravated assault by strangulation, battery, theft and weapons charges.

He remains in the Calcasieu Parish Jail and is awaiting extradition, according to jail records.  It is not known when he will be back in Georgia.

No other details were released.
