A driver is at large after a pedestrian was injured during a police chase in metro Atlanta.

A police chase through Atlanta ended with the driver of a stolen car hitting a vehicle and injuring a pedestrian before fleeing the scene, officials said Friday afternoon.

Two female passengers, who also fled the stolen car, are in custody, Atlanta police Sgt. John Chafee said.

Officers in an unmarked car first spotted the stolen car about 1 p.m. in the 1900 block of Allison Court and followed it as it left the location, Chafee said.

Police asked the Georgia State Patrol to assist and pull over the car, which instead led GSP on a chase through the city, Chafee said.

The stolen car eventually struck a vehicle near the 3000 block of Stone Road, which borders East Point, ending the chase. East Point police were notified of the chase and “went out for mutual aid when the chase was close to (the city’s) jurisdiction,” Det. Ebony Johnson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“Several people in the vehicle struck by the suspect were taken to the hospital with minor injuries,” Chafee said.

Their conditions were not released.

A pedestrian was taken to the hospital with a leg injury and is in stable condition, Chafee said, “but at this time, it is not clear exactly how the injury occurred.”

No other details were released.
