Authorities from multiple agencies responded to I-75 North in Bartow County after a man’s body was found on the interstate Wednesday morning.

Officials have identified the body of a man found along I-75 earlier this week in Bartow County.

The body of Mack Owen Griggs, 24, of Forest Park, was found Wednesday morning in Emerson, about 40 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, the GBI said Friday.

Georgia State Patrol troopers were called about 8:45 a.m. to investigate, officials said. The Emerson Police Department and GBI also helped with the investigation, which blocked a right lane before exit No. 283 for more than three hours, according to the agencies.

It’s unclear how the body ended up on the interstate or what caused Griggs’ death. Investigators are still trying to determine if his death was a homicide or an accident.
