Arrest made in fatal gas station shooting

More than two weeks after a College Park man was shot and killed outside a gas station near downtown Atlanta, police made an arrest in the case Wednesday.

Dominique Jackson is in the Fulton County jail on one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the Oct. 2 shooting death of William Respress Jr., Atlanta police Officer Kim Jones said.

Respress Jr., 36, was arguing with a small group of people outside a Shell gas station near the intersection of Whitehall and McDaniel streets when a car carrying Jackson and three other men pulled up, police said.

Jackson allegedly pulled a gun and shot Respress multiple times in the torso. Respress died on the scene.

Another person who was arguing with Respress was grazed across his abdomen by one of the bullets, police said. His injuries were not life threatening.
