Crawford Lewis arrives in court Tuesday. Judge Cynthia Becker heard from attorneys for former DeKalb School Superintendent Crawford Lewis in court Tuesday December 17, 2013. He is requesting that he be allowed to withdraw his guilty plea to a misdemeanor if she will not honor prosecutors' recommendation that he be sentenced to probation; no jail time. Lewis' attorney had asked for an "emergency hearing" the day after he was sentenced to 12 months in the DeKalb County Jail and taken out of the courtroom in handcuffs to begin serving his time. Becker set the hearing for eight days after he was sentenced. KENT D. JOHNSON / KDJOHNSON@AJC.COM
