Q: My husband and I love the hard-cooked red beet eggs by Sauder’s that my mother serves every time we visit Pennsylvania. Can you help us find this brand or any similar item in Atlanta? Thanks! Amy Roth, Alpharetta

A: Amy, I spoke to someone at Sauder's and was told that the Pennsylvania Dutch specialty isn't sold this far south. However, I'm going to send you on a scenic jaunt that will take you to some pretty pink pickled beet eggs — along with gorgeous fall scenery. Check out Taste of Amish, 83 Dunbarton Farm Road, Blue Ridge, 706-632-8989. This store is loaded with specialty foods that include roll butter, handmade soaps, candies and Amish Wedding brand pickled beet eggs. A 32-ounce jar of the colorful eggs costs $8.95. Ingredients include vinegar, beet juice, sugar, salt and spices.

Q: When we were young, my mother put those bubble lights with colored water on our Christmas tree. I haven’t seen them in years, and I don’t know if they’re even still available. If they are, is there possibly a local store where I might get them? Thank you. J. Hinds, email

A: Introduced to the U.S. market in the mid 1940s, bubble lights are now considered vintage or retro Christmas decorations. That's good news because it also means that they're once again available. Sets of seven Sylvania Christmas bubble lights are available through TrueValue Hardware stores. Simply call your nearest TrueValue, or visit truevalue.com, and order the lights for $9.99. Have them shipped to the store nearest you, then you can then pick them up without any extra charges. If you're calling in your order, ask for item number 137014. The lights should arrive within a week.

Q: I’m looking for a hair product called Verb. It’s a sculpting cream for short hair. I can find it online at Urban Outfitters, but I wanted to see if it was available in a store in town. If I have to order it, I will. Thanks. Beth Matthews, email

A: Made without parabens, sulfates and phthalates, Verb sculpting clay also is a cruelty-free product. The medium-hold pomade is formulated to protect your short hair while adding a bit of shine. You'll find a 2-ounce jar for $16 at Sephora, Lenox Square, 404-816-0123.

You can stop looking.

With cooler weather in the offing, readers are ready to crank up their ovens and get baking. However, a few of you have noticed that your favorite brownie mix is missing. I’m sorry to tell you that Nestlé Toll House Brownies and More chocolate baking mix with Butterfinger baking bits was discontinued this past May. Unfortunately, stock has pretty much disappeared everywhere, including online.
