Plant sale: During a seedtime and harvest plant sale, visitors can purchase fall vegetables, perennials, indoor plants and more. An assortment of blooming astilbes and tricyrtis (toad lilies) will be on display. Additionally, homemade treats and first-batch hot pepper sauce will be sold. Fall festival: During the fall festival and pre-Halloween celebration, “Trunk” or Treat, families can dress up in costume and receive treats from a maze of decorated vehicles. Games with prizes, live entertainment, glitter tattoos, hayrides, snacks and more also will be available. The event will be held from 3-5:30 p.m. Oct. 21; in the event of rain, it will be postponed to 3-5:30 p.m. Oct. 28. Free and open to all. Cue a concert: St. John’s Episcopal Church in collaboration with the Choral Guild of Atlanta will present a concert called An Appalachian Celebration. Music selections will include “The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass,” “Dear Appalachia Trilogy” and the “O Brother, Where Art Thou” medley. Free and open to all. 4-6:30 p.m. Oct. 21. “Trunk” or treat: Everyone will be welcomed at the annual “trunk” or treat Halloween event for families. Kids can wear costumes and collect treats from trunks of more than 20 scary decorated cars. Book discussion: During the 26th Book Festival, Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer will discuss his book “The Court and the World,” which examines the work of the Supreme Court of the United States from the conduct of national security policy to international trade to consideration for circumstances beyond America’s borders.
