You can take adoptable dogs to the beach in Maui

The program operates on Wednesdays and Fridays and can have a lengthy backlog. Participants receive a talk about safety and a backpack with supplies. The dogs benefit from the program by getting exercise and social interaction. Sometimes, visitors fall in love with their beach buddy and end up adopting the dog.

Beach Buddies!

Mahalo to Beach Buddies volunteer Darlene Rayhill of Ohana Films for taking shelter dog Hina out for a day of fun in the sun, and for putting together this short film. Hina's BIG SMILE says it all!

All the dogs in the Beach Buddies program come with a yellow leash that says, “Adopt Me.” The extra public exposure gives dogs more opportunities to find their forever homes. Visitors post photos of the dogs enjoying their day out on social media, which also can help them find good homes.

Life with Gracie: Is our opinion of Bishop Eddie Long that important?

Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia died early Sunday morning, and the rest of us are left arguing about all that made him good, and for some, all that made bad. He was great. No, he wasn’t. He was fake. I am reminded of Scripture where Jesus declared, he who is without sin cast the first stone. And I was warmed...

At night, she searched for a solution. “I’d sleep with stuffed animals between my breasts,” Howard said. “I tried masking tape,...
