LifeLine launches “Home for the Pawlidays” project

Dogs will soon be labeled by behaviors instead.

Guess who’s coming to dinner?

No, it’s not some boorish relative, but perhaps a friendly pooch.

LifeLine Animal Project is launching the first “Home for the Pawlidays” program that allows pet lovers to open their homes to a dog for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Afterall, no one wants to spend the holiday alone.

This is the first year for the project, which is only open for dogs . Participating shelters are the Fulton County Animal Services and DeKalb County Animal Services .

People are asked to foster a homeless pet for a week - from Nov. 18 through Nov. 25.

While felines  have the reputation of not caring whether you’re even in the room, “cats actually have a little more trouble adjusting to a new place. If you have other cats, it can take months for them to accept each other and to like each other,” said spokeswoman Karen Hirsch.

Foster coordinators at both shelters are currently in the process of hand-selecting 10 dogs each, however they have not yet finalized the selections .

The dogs will be picked up on Nov.  18, so some of the dogs they're looking at now, may be adopted by then. There should be a good mix of dogs in all shapes and sizes who will do great in homes, and who could use a break from the shelter.

LifeLine will provide the pet supplies, vet care and support - foster parents provide the love. Limited spots are available on a first-come, first serve basis.
