Learn to make Bellina Alimentari’s lady pea salad

From the menu … Bellina Alimentari, Ponce City Market, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave., Atlanta. 404-330-9933; bellina-alimentari.com

A friend and I recently went to the Ponce City Market for the first time. As a native Atlantan, with an aunt and uncle that had careers with Sears at that location and having memories of shopping there with my family, it was great being back in that building again. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Bellina Alimentari where I had their Lady Pea Salad. It was amazing and I’d love to be able to prepare it for family and friends. Thanks for considering my request.— Carol O. Ball, Dunwoody

For those who grew up at a time when field peas were only served hot and cooked with pork, this recipe may come as a surprise. But lady peas, and other field peas, make a lovely cold salad as well. We offer you the recipe for a batch one-eighth the size of that made at the restaurant. It’s one of the rotating seasonal salads you’ll find at Bellina Alimentari.
