I adore the pecan praline cookies from Well-Bred Bakery and would be thrilled to have their recipe. They're crisp. They're crunchy. They're delectable. Perfecto dessert for a picnic, party or afternoon snack!— Patricia Paulk, Asheville, N.C.

Laura Bogard, Well-Bred Bakery’s general manager, sent us the recipe for these delicious cookies and the photo that shows them temptingly arrayed in the bakery’s display case along with their shortbread and “monster” cookies. Drop in to the bakery and sample these and other treats when you’re in Asheville visiting “A Vanderbilt Christmas” at the Biltmore House through Jan. 7.

We love the step of making pecan praline and then using the mixer to break it up into the cookie dough. A brilliant idea.

You can make the dough ahead of time and refrigerate for a few days before baking. Or make up the balls of dough and then freeze them. Now they’re available for thawing and baking anytime you need a sweet treat.
