7 Gwinnett County summer camps taking registrations now


The early bird does get the worm when it comes to registering your child for summer camp.

Well before spring officially hits, parents are setting their kiddos up for a productive and interesting summer.

Whether your child is into sports, the arts or academics, there's a camp in Gwinnett County to suit nearly every interest.

The following are seven Gwinnett camps that are taking registrations now:

The Actor's Scene,http://www.theactorsscene.com/index.php/summer-camps-mainmenu-29/summer-camps-ages-12-17.

What's offered: Camps to learn improv, film making and sketch comedy.

Where: The Actor's Scene, 4484 Commerce Drive, Suite A, Buford.

When: Improv Camp: June 12-16, CampFILM: July 10-21 and Sketch Comedy Camp: July 24-28. Each camp is held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Cost: Improv Camp costs $199, CampFILM costs $499, Sketch Comedy Camp costs $299.

Wonder Colors art studiohttp://wondercolorsartstudio.com/art-camps.

What's offered: Full-day and half-day camps with art lessons, projects, games and movies during lunch for students who have completed kindergarten through rising sixth graders.

Where: Wonder Colors Art Studio, 3461 Lawrenceville Suwanee Road, Suite E, Suwanee.

When: June 5-9: full days, June 12-16: half days, June 19-23: half days, June 26-30: half days, July 10-14: full days, July 17-21: half days and July 24-28: half days. For full-day camps, drop off is between 8:30-9 a.m., and pick up is between 5-5:30 p.m. For half-days, drop off is between 8:30-9 a.m. and pick up is between 2-2:30 p.m.

Cost: Full days are $295 for the week, and half days are $195 for the week.

Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Department campshttps://www.gwinnettcounty.com/portal/gwinnett/Departments/CommunityServices/ParksandRecreation/SummerCamps.

What's offered: The Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Department hosts a wide variety of camps throughout the summer, including Adventure Camps and those for special interests in sports, arts, etiquette, superheroes and much more. Whatever your child's interests, he or she will probably find a camp to match.

Where: At gyms, parks and recreation centers throughout Gwinnett County.

When: The first camps start at the end of May, and the last ones run through July.

Cost: Costs vary according to the camp, ranging from $61 to $450.

Ms. STEM – Summer STEM Campshttp://www.msstem.com/about1.

What's offered: Science, technology, engineering and math activities for female campers age 9-16 (rising 4th-10th graders) including daily engineering design team challenges, guest speakers and field trips.

Where:Sugarloaf United Methodist Church, 1795 Old Peachtree Road, Duluth.

When: July 10-14, with drop off beginning at 8:30 a.m. and camp starting at 8:45 a.m. Pick up is from 3:30-3:45 p.m.

Cost: $245 per week. Receive a $20 discount if you register before March 31 and use coupon code 20OFF.

Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Centerhttps://gwinnettehc.org/education/camps-2.

What's offered: Camps are held for ages 2-3, 4, 5-6, 7-9 and 10-13. Subjects include nature themes, LEGO builders, American Girl World Explorers, Civil War: Exploring Living History, Renaissance Camp, Archaelogy, Art, Drama and Military History.

Where: Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center, 2020 Clean Water Drive, Buford.

When: Camps start in late May and end in early August. Check the schedule for specific dates and times.

Cost: Prices vary according to the camp and range from $75 to $250.

Adidas Tennis Campshttp://tenniscamper.com/tennis-camp/georgia-gwinnett-college-tennis-camps.

What's offered: Extracurricular activities as well as tennis instruction from Chase Hodges, Georgia Gwinnett College's men's and women's tennis coach.

Where: Georgia Gwinnett College tennis facilities, 1000 University Center Lane, Lawrenceville.

When: Three sessions are held from June 19-23, June 26-30 and July 10-14. Camp is from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily.

Cost: Each session costs $355.

Lilburn Day Camp,https://campscui.active.com/orgs/LilburnDayCamp.

What's offered: Girl Scouts attend camp the first week in June each year, participating in arts and crafts, geocaching, woodworking and more.

When: June 5-9 for some sessions and June 6-9 for others.

WhereLilburn City Park, 76 Main St. NW, Lilburn.

Cost: Camp costs $95, or $50 if you qualify for financial aid.
