People and pets: During Adult Formation, guests will learn about the canine cellmate program which uses shelter dogs to change the lives of incarcerated men. Anniversary celebration: A special worship service to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the nave will be open to all. A reception will be held after service. Former St. Bede’s rector, the Rev. Bike challenge: Get fit during “biketober” fest, a month-long, heart-pumping indoor cycling fitness challenge. Participants who partake in at least eight classes will have a chance to win a Precor spin bike. Participants will also be encouraged to track their progress to win gifts at the end of the month. Film screening and discussion: The film, “13th,” which explores the intersection of race, justice and mass incarceration in the United States, will be screened. Community concert: As part of the fall concert series, Angela Massey (flute) and Vahan Sargsyan (piano) will perform during a program called Night Soliloquoy. Stoles display: A collection of over 1,000 liturgical stoles and other sacred items representing the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people of faith will be on display for the Shower of Stoles Project. Each stole will contain the story of a GLBT person who is active in the life and leadership of their faith community in some way including as a minister, elder, deacon, teacher, missionary, musician, administrator or active layperson.
