Ru said he and LeBar were married in January on the 23rd anniversary of when they met, which happens to be LeBar's birthday.

"We met on the dance floor at (former New York City club) Limelight in 1994 on his birthday," he said. "We never wanted to do it. We were really looking into it for tax breaks and financial things."

Ru rarely posts photos of him and his partner on his Instagram page. One dates back to April 2016.

"He doesn't care about show business at all," he said of his private partner. "He could care less."

LeBar spends time on his 60,000-acre ranch, which People reported spreads across Wyoming and South Dakota.

"Most of the time, he’s on the ranch … but when we have the chance to do anything, he doesn’t want me to come there," he said, adding that they'll go to "someplace fabulous," like Maui, New York, San Francisco or Paris.

"This concept of marriage that we were raised with is so different from the real style of relationships that linger for years and years," Ru told "Entertainment Tonight". "It’s not what they do on "The Bachelor," where it’s this romantic Diane Warren (song), Nancy Meyers film. It takes -- it’s different. There’s sickness and in health, and rich and poor. It takes a real commitment to be able to stick with someone no matter what, and see them as their authentic self … it’s real life."

ET reported that the wedding was a small ceremony at their Los Angeles home. Ru said the marriage has not changed their relationship.

"We are devoted to each other. We don’t stand on ceremony," he said. "We thought, we don’t have to get married. But then, in light of what’s happening currently in the world today, what’s happening in Washington, we thought, you know what? Let’s do it. Let’s just do it, because there’s too much at stake with our businesses ... so, that’s why we did it."
