Learn how to make AC Hotel’s Flor de Bahia cocktail

I recently had a drink named Flor de Bahia at the AC Hotel in Buckhead. It was excellent and had a unique flavor that I cannot pinpoint. Can you tell me the ingredients in the drink with a recipe to prepare it? Thanks. — Vicky Murphy, Atlanta

This cocktail from the AC Lounge at the newly opened AC Hotel Atlanta Buckhead at Phipps Plaza is the creation of Chris Adams. It’s not a surprise that you might not be able to guess all the components as it relies on a wide range of spirits and guava juice.

If you want to duplicate the hotel’s presentation, dried pomegranate and a wide range of other dried fruits are available from http://nuts.com

A former slave’s Jack Daniel’s legacy spreads its roots
A former slave’s Jack Daniel’s legacy spreads its roots

Not too long ago, we had our backyard landscaped after years of do-it-yourself attempts to improve its patchwork of mismatched pavers, sparse grass and bald dirt. Our lot is tiny and our budget for the project modest. At the time, the backyard was a sliver of hard-packed dirt and clay. But the light is good and we wanted to incorporate a garden. My...

Vegemite, the beloved Australian spread, goes upmarket

Vegemite, the classic condiment found on breakfast tables in every corner of Australia for nearly a century, is going posh. Bega, manufacturer of the iconic — if divisive — yeast extract spread, released a new and more expensive version of the product this week, raising questions about whether the brand had abandoned its humble roots in...

Wal-Mart Stores expects U.S. e-commerce sales to surge 40 percent in the next fiscal year as its online investments allow the retail giant to play catch-up with Amazon.com. The company also plans to add 1,000 online-grocery locations -- roughly double the current number of sites, which help fill orders from customers buying their food on Walmart.com...

'Wasted! The Story of Food Waste' Anthony Bourdain’s new documentary

You can call the statistics stomach-churning: 40 percent of all food is wasted in the United States at a cost of a trillion dollars a year, one-third is wasted worldwide; 10 million tons of produce a year go unharvested in the U.S.; 90 percent of all wasted food ends up in landfills, where it can take up to 25 years for a head of lettuce to compost...

Psst! Prince Harry parties here. Also Pippa and J-Law.

At Bunga Bunga supper club, a sublimely ridiculous ode to Italian kitsch in Covent Garden, there’s a speedboat turned table that seats 10, communal cocktails served from four-foot-high replicas of Michelangelo’s David — yes, the tap is that part of his anatomy — and a Pompeii-style fresco featuring cavorting nudes. Look closer...
