Former Emory University professor and poet Kevin Young has been longlisted a third time for the National Book Award. This time it's in the category of nonfiction for "Bunk: The Rise of Hoaxes, Humbug, Plagiarists, Phonies, Post-Facts and Fake News," which Graywolf Press publishes Nov. 17.
Now director of the Schomberg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York City and poetry editor at New Yorker magazine, Young was previously nominated for "Blue Laws: Selected and Uncollected Poems 1995-2015" and "Jelly Roll: A Blues," which was a finalist.
Also longlisted was Timothy B. Tyson for his book, "The Blood of Emmett Till," which was excerpted in the AJC in February.
The National Book Award finalists will be announced Oct. 4. Winners will be announced Nov. 15.
