Atlanta author longlisted for 2017 National Book Award

Atlanta children's author Laurel Snyder's very big year just got bigger. As reported earlier this year in the AJC , Snyder is in the process of publishing five books in 2017. And now, her book "Orphan Island" has been longlisted for the National Book Award.

A chapter book for readers age 8-12, “Orphan Island” is about nine children living on a magical island without adult supervision.

National Book Award finalists will be announced Oct. 4, and winners revealed Nov. 15.
