Beware of FBI impersonators demanding money

If someone claiming to be an FBI or other federal agent shows up at your home or office and demands money — you could be in big trouble.

Not in trouble with the police, but actually you should call the police — because anyone who shows up unannounced and demands money on behalf of the government is a crook trying to catch you off guard.

According to a police report, Seattle police are still looking for a main who posed as an FBI agent and stole $128,000 from a Seattle money wiring service.  

Police say the man was wearing a suit and flashed what looked like an FBI badge to the owner of Red Sea Finance. The business was actually closed, but when the owner saw a man who appeared to be a government official, he opened the door.

The FBI also recently issued a warning about a phone scam that spoofs an FBI office phone number.
