Cox Enterprises has named Henry Parry-Okeden, a Colorado entrepreneur and descendant of the company’s founder, to its board of directors.

Parry-Okeden leads growth strategy at InvitedHome, a Boulder-based vacation rental firm he co-founded. Prior to InvitedHome, he was a founder of the Oakview Group and a sales and marketing manager at Shanghai Vision. He also was an associate at startup accelerator Techstars and spent two years with Cox Communications, Cox Enterprises’ cable TV and internet arm.

Parry-Okeden is a great-grandson of James M. Cox, the three-term Ohio governor who founded Cox. Atlanta-based Cox’s board, which expands to 14 members, includes a mix of business leaders and Cox family members.

“We are excited that Henry is joining Cox’s board and will play a role in shaping the future of the company,” Cox Enterprises Chairman Jim Kennedy said. “He understands our core businesses and brings experience in launching and growing startups, as well as international business.”

In addition to Cox Communications, privately held Cox Enterprises also owns automotive services businesses and media properties including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
